Business Visa

Do you want to purchase, invest in or establish a business in Australia?

The Business Skills visa class encourages successful business people to settle permanently in Australia to purchase, invest in, or establish a new business or businesses in Australia.

If you apply for a Business Owner, Senior Executive, Investor Visa or a State Sponsored visa is approved, you will be granted a 4 (four) year provisional visa, allowing your to live and do business in Australia as a temporary resident, during which time you will need to meet certain requirements to be eligible to apply for a permanent visa.

As soon as you are able to satisfy the requirements to apply for your permanent residence, you can do so at any time. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you meet certain requirements, including a required level of assets, turn over and staffing levels, in order to be eligible to be granted a permanent residency visa.

There are four categories of Business Skills visas:

Business Owner

This visa is for applicants who are based overseas and currently own or part own and manage a business. There is also a state/territory sponsored business owner for those who are seeking to live and do business in regional areas in Australia, including South Australia and Adelaide.

You must first apply for and be granted a Business Owner (provisional) visa.  If successful, this visa will be issued for 4 years. 

You will then need to demonstrate that you have successfully operated a business in Australia for a minimum of two years as the holder of a Business Owner (provisional) visa, before being eligible to apply for permanent residency through a Business Owner (residence) visa.

If you do have sponsorship from a State or Territory government and you apply for a State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (provisional) or State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (residence) the threshold requirement that you will be considered against is considerably lower than non sponsored applications.

Senior Executive

This visa is for high-level senior executives employed by a major international business. There is also a state/territory sponsored business owner for those who are seeking to live and do business in regional areas of Australia, including South Australia and Adelaide.

You must first apply for and be granted a Senior Executive (provisional) visa.  If successful, this visa will be issued for 4 years. 

You will then need to demonstrate that you have successfully operated a business in Australia for a minimum of two years as the holder of a Senior Executive (provisional) visa, before being eligible to apply for permanent residency through a Business Owner (residence) visa.

If you do have sponsorship from a State or Territory government and you apply for a State/Territory Sponsored Senior Executive (provisional) or State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (residence) the threshold requirement that you will be considered against is considerably lower than non sponsored applications.

Investor Visa

This visa is for experienced business investors who are willing to invest substantial capital into an Australian Government Security for a fixed term. There is also a state/territory sponsored investor category for those who are seeking to live in regional areas of Australia, including South Australia and Adelaide.

You must first apply for and be granted an Investor (provisional) visa.  If successful, this visa will be issued for 4 years. 

You will then need to demonstrate that you have successfully maintained your Designated Investment in Australia for a minimum of 4 years as the holder of an Investor (provisional) visa, before being eligible to apply for permanent residency through an Investor (residence) visa.

If you do have sponsorship from a State or Territory government and you apply for a State/Territory Sponsored Investor (provisional), State/Territory Sponsored Investor (residence) or a State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (residence) the threshold requirement that you will be considered against is considerably lower, than non sponsored applications.

Business Talent Visas

This visa is for top-end business people who have sponsorship from a State or Territory Government.

Top-end business people may be eligible to apply directly for permanent residency.  If you have sponsorship from a State or Territory Government and are successful you will be granted your permanent residency in Australia, with out the need for a two stage application process.

To be eligible for this visa, you must also have an overall successful business career, have significant business and net assets and have achieved a significant annual turnover in your business.
